Weeknotes: 2025-05-17

Spent a long weekend in Vienna where I spent time enjoying the tasty treats in the Stadtpark at the Genuss Festival. Did you know Austria has a Wine Quarter?! The rest of the time was spent exploring the city, visiting its many museums around the Museumsplatz including the Pieter Bruegel exhibition at the Kunsthistorisches Museum. Many a chuckle was had at early interpretations of animals artists had clearly not seen – but who am I to judge? The crux of the trip was around a performance of Mahler’s 8th Symphony at the Konzerthaust. Vienna was hit by huge thunderstorms that afternoon, and it was possible to hear the thunder inside the venue.

Favourite restaurant - hooray for having outdoor space on a Sunday evening! - was MAST: we enjoyed the six course Chef’s Choice (PDF menu) and accompanying wine flight…
